Understanding Play

Outdoor play is constantly undergoing changes to meet with the demands of children’s and societies’ needs. At Russell Play we look towards all aspects of child development and how this can be brought out through careful play area design and product development.

We understand problems such as child obesity and are continuously researching and developing play points and outdoor designs to help encourage children into being more active. Social interaction also plays its part in child development, selecting certain play points or designing a play area in a specific way can encourage team work or imaginary play.

We find children are natural explorers, creative and enthusiastic about play, our play spaces give them the ability to express their instincts, have fun and learn at the same time. Our designs and play equipment help children understand and develop their social skills, physical abilities and limitations through play.

Working with you

We work with you in designing your unique play space. Identifying who the users are, their age range and any special requirements are crucial to creating a successful playground. We find it important to identify the existing landscaping elements like mounds, planting and trees important and how the surrounding area can contribute to the design.

Careful Planning and Consultation

Public consultation IS part of the design process. After all, if the users are not happy – we are not happy. We understand the local community should be consulted on their views for the project and informed about every stage of the design process.
